Wizz Air orders 75 new Airbus aircraft

Wizz Air shareholders have given the green light to order a further 75 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The decision exercises a previously agreed purchase option agreed with Airbus in September last year. The airline now has total orders outstanding for as many as 434 A321neo aircraft. The value of this recent order is around 9 billion euros based on list prices, but due to usual discounts for such large orders, this value is likely to be lower.

Wizz Air, founded in 2003, has its focus mainly on destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. In light of continued strong demand for air travel, airlines like Wizz Air are taking the initiative to acquire new aircraft. This allows them to increase their capacity and replace outdated aircraft models. In the Netherlands, Wizz Air is a major player at Eindhoven Airport.

Expanding the fleet to meet demand

With this large-scale purchase of Airbus A321neo aircraft, Wizz Air is demonstrating its commitment to expand its fleet and strengthen its market position. The airline has steadily gained popularity in recent years, particularly due to its focus on affordable flights to destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. The addition of these 75 modern and fuel-efficient aircraft will increase Wizz Air’s capacity and enable it to further expand its services.

Step towards sustainability and efficiency

By choosing the Airbus A321neo, Wizz Air is also demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. The A321neo is equipped with the latest technologies and engines, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This is in line with the wider efforts of the aviation industry to operate in a more environmentally friendly way and contribute to the goals of reducing environmental impact.
