Social distancing is not going to work at London Heathrow
Social distancing at an airport is not going to work, according to London Heathrow Airport’s top executive John Holland-Kaye. If we want to follow the rules with social distancing when boarding, there will be queues that will last for miles and miles all over the airport. John Holland-Kaye asks Prime Minister Boris Johnson for a general international realistic standard. It should also include a health check before departure. This way passengers can travel safely once the flight restrictions are lifted.
Operational within 3 to 5 months
London Heathrow’s top executive indicates that there is an urgent need to introduce an international standard. The airport will have to be operational again during the summer. London Heathrow Airport is one of the largest employers in the country and warns that thousands of jobs are at stake. John Holland-Kaye:
If we don’t get back up and running within three to five months, we’re going to see huge job losses not just in our sector, but in many other sectors that depend on us.
