Joint Venture between Delta and WestJet cancelled

The Joint Venture between Delta and WestJet has been cancelled. The terms of the US Administration’s cooperation are unreasonable and unacceptable. Reuters reports this from internal sources to the two airlines. Only last month the cooperation was approved. However, a number of conditions had to be met. WestJet, for example, had to surrender 16 slots at LaGuardia Airport near New York. This was a condition to avoid a monopoly between New York and Toronto.

Other solution

Delta and WestJet stated in a statement that they still intend to cooperate. They are looking for another solution to set up a partnership after all. The plan of Delta and WestJet is to coordinate flight schedules and fares. The two airlines also want to fly to new destinations.
