Brussels Airport distributes face masks to passengers and staff
Brussels Airport starts distributing face masks to passengers and staff. In this way, the airport is ahead of the possible decision of the authorities to make the use of face masks compulsory at airports. Brussels Airport indicates that it has sufficient stock and can therefore already start distributing them. Last week, the National Security Council recommended the use of face masks at airports. However, it is not yet mandatory.
Start-up phase on 18 May
On 18 May Brussels Airport will once again be operating more flights. It is seen as the new start date after the corona virus. In view of the current low passenger numbers at the airport, Brussels Airport has already started handing out face masks. At the moment there are about 15 passenger flights a day at the airport. These concern several hundred passengers. In normal times, Brussels Airport handles around 90.000 passengers a day. Additional measures have been taken in the terminal to observe social distancing. Cleaning is also carried out more often.
