Hamburg Airport goes for hydrogen
Aviation is bad for the environment. The use of hydrogen by passenger planes seems to be something of the future. Hamburg Airport is preparing for the use of hydrogen. An Airbus A320 will be converted so that it can fly on hydrogen. Various studies will be carried out into the use of hydrogen. The project will start in 2022.
Hydrogen is the future
According to experts, hydrogen is the future of aviation. The hydrogen will be generated with green electricity. In this way, it ensures minimal emissions of harmful substances into the air and on the ground. The maintenance company Lufthansa Technik, the aerospace centre DLR and the research institute ZAL will work on this project. At Hamburg Airport, research will be carried out into the storage, transport and onboarding of hydrogen, among other things.
