Amazon Prime Air opens base at Leipzig Halle Airport

Amazon Air opens the first European base at Leipzig Halle Airport. By opening a base in Europe, Amazon aims to gain more market share in Europe. Two Boeing 737-800 aircraft are stationed at the German airport. The aircraft are used for cargo transport.

70 cargo planes at Amazon Air

A total of 70 cargo aircraft are currently flying at Amazon Air. Most of them fly mainly in America. Companies such as Atlas Air, Southern Air and Sun Country Air provide various cargo flights with the Boeing 737-800 and the Boeing 767-300 for Amazon. The brand name for Amazon’s fleet is Prime Air. The flights in Europe will be operated by ASL Airlines.

Transport hub Leipzig Halle Airport

With the arrival of Amazon Prime Air at Leipzig Halle Airport, the airport has become an important transport hub in Germany. In addition to Amazon Prime Air, DHL and AirBridgeCargo also make extensive use of the airport. In addition to the high volume of freight traffic, there are also regular holiday flights.
